Fond Farewell to Mrs Johnston

Mrs Vivienne Johnston was given a presentation by staff yesterday and today said her farewells to P4C but we look forward to welcoming her back to the P4 Scots Night and to seeing her often through our Cluster links with James Gillespie's Primary School.

We will miss you, Mrs Johnston! Keep in touch!

Farewell from Mrs Johnston

I would just like to say a fond farewell to all of the children and staff at Sciennes, especially the children of P4C.

I have loved working at Sciennes for many years and will miss you all.

I will stay in touch and will see you all at the Scots Night in February.

Best Wishes,

Vivienne Johnston.

Thankyou for Foodbank donations !

A big thanks to parents for the Foodbank Donations from Edinburgh North West Foodbank! Sciennes donated a massive amount of tins and packets

We learned why some people are finding themselves in situations that require help from Foodbanks. And more local than you think. Food parcels are given to last three days and are given to families or individuals at crisis point who have been referred by agencies including Social workers, Housing/welfare office or Doctors. All donations greatly appreciated by the recipients. Thankyou

4B- The Caledonian Ark

The Caledonian Ark

On Friday 28 November Primary 4B were very lucky enough to be invited to take part in a workshop at the Edinburgh College of Art on Lauriston Place. During the workshop the children were given the opportunity to investigate and draw a range of endangered Scottish animals, birds and insects.

The first thing that the children were asked to do was to choose one of the animals, insects or birds in front of them and to draw/ paint it using any of the materials in front of them, anything except a pencil!
This was a fantastic opportunity for the kids to get creative.

After rotating around to a different table, the children had to choose an animal, insect or bird and select one of the features to exaggerate.

Finally, the children were asked to select one of the animals, birds or insects which they had seen during the day and create a mini picture of their choice for a time capsule. The children's capsules were then used to create a wall display in the college.

What a fantastic day
